hi all new to this its my first time!!

performed a full service today all oils, filters, diff oil etc from using all your post and info, online manual too, went ok apart from all the diesel and oil on the drive lol ,
but any way onto my problem when we came to do the oil filter i removed the air intake to turbo pipe for easy access and found quite a bit of oil sitting in the pipe on and next to turbo looks like its coming from some type of breather( i think )at bottom right hand of intercooler when stood at front of car(3 pipes run into it one to problem area) a pipe comes of it into the pipe from maf to turbo i assume oil shouldnt be sat there am i right please help?
r reg t2 2.7 tdi se lwb with the dreaded hitachi maf from what i have read:thumb2

if you can do a pic, use PAINT to draw lines on to where you mean..

o, wont help me but might help som eone whos better at the spanners bit. like tool box or Tran

Seems to becoming a common prob now:augieI fitted anothe oil catch tank & blocked off the hole in the pipe to the turbo to stop this from happening. Only thing i've found is I get the odd drip of oil from the filter on the catch tank but the oil stops the bulk head from rusting:lol

it sits at bottom right a pipe comes into it from under intercooler, one comes out the bottom of the unit to bottom of engine then the other goes to the pipe from air intake to turbo where oil is sitting, its a black plastic unit cylinder type looking thing breather oil seperater maybe just worried the oil in there will do something to turbo as we are traveling to hagerston castle next week with caravan dont want it to break on me, cheers

Yeah the oil seperator started playing up on mine but Nissan wanted around £200 for a new one:eek::eek::eek:Not sure if it'll do any damage to the turbo TBH but you will notice your oil level will slowly drop as you burn the oil going into the induction system. After I fitted the catch tank my oil level has never dropped:thumbs. You should be fine on your trip just check the oil level & take a drop just incase but I don't think you'll need it as it took about 5000 miles for mine to go from full to min

Hagerston castle you'll be going right past mine:augie

Any oil in the breather from the rocker cover should pass through the ass you describe and back via a tube in to the sump, a little oil will always get past in the vapour and make its way in to the inlet and is not uncommon.
There is a valve in the top of the breather pot that should prevent most of the oil entering the intake, but I don’t think you can get it apart to check it. Sweety will hopefully confirm this.

This unit should periodically be removed and cleaned and the pipes check to ensure they are not blocked, especially the one to the sump.

A little oil will not damage the turbo.

Hi Toolbox I found mine seemed to be a sealed unit but I still opened it up but had to super glue it all back together as I was'nt paying the £200 price tag

i always service my cars regular about every 6k i have had my t2 for about 9 months ,5.5k had a r reg mav tdi before just got it as it was speced up more than other , not one problem in this time also no probs with the mav but when i un did the pipe dont know how long its been on for but i would say it was about an egg cups worth of oil but when i check my oil levels never really see a change ?
