Well my truck is atension seeking again  I had a prod about & it looks as if the front pipe is starting to go at the weaved mesh part so I can't bodge it up & get another year out of it  Due to the weather & the fact that the nuts on the turbo look rusted solid it's going to go into the garage to get replaced.
I was wondering what price other members have had to pay to get theirs replaced as I phoned kwickfit (for a laugh) & got told it would be £106 8O 8O phoned another place down the road & they said it would be £81  Does this sound about right :?

Sounds reasonable to me, when my front pipe was replaced at a service at my local independent garage, the service cost was a lot more than expected, simply becuase they charged by the hour for the job, rather than a fixed price.

front pipe

Had a new one fitted locally £150 complete system.Had a few smiles after phoning around £200-350.Dinky

You need to make sure they are careful with the nuts on the turbo, if they neck one off your talking bigish job  Manifold off and turbo drilled and restuded.

The turbo nuts/studs need heating to get them off safely.

I was thinking that gego after looking at then & will tell them to put the hot spanner on them
Theres far to much wind, rain & cold here to be working outside on the truck with no cover :(
Thanks for your replies over this & when it's been done i'll let you know the final price & if they manage to kill the stud in the turbo

Cheers Neil

Hi Sweety

Just for info - I've recently had both front and back pipes replaced on my T2 at a cost of 200 euros (145 pounds) and 124 euros (90 pounds) respectively, inclusive of labour and 19.6% VAT here in France. So it sounds like you have found reasonable prices.
Regards CL

earlier this year I paid £98 for a ccentre /rear box up in cumbria slow fit couldn't touch the price

T2 exhaust replacement cost

Hi Sweety.
Quick-Fit price sounds good to me at £106. I had same job done some time ago at my local garage and it was £120. Apparently it's an awkward job because of rusty turbo bolts AND the need to remove some transmission bits to wriggle it into place. (or was I conned?) : :|
On a personal note ; I have always found Quick-Fit very fair. They have stuck to their quotes no matter what unforseens they encountered. They recently put a centre and tail section on for me at £240 incl VAT. They replaced a couple of dodgy pipe brackets FOC whilst under there. Three years written guarantee too.

Having looked at mine the only transmission near the front pipe is the front prop shaft  but to be honest there looks enough room to get the exhause front pipe out & back in  so I think they may have told you a little porkie  but I will confurm this when I get mine done incase i'm wrong :?

Well got the front pipe changed today for the grand sum of £81.07  at North Eastern Tyres & Exhausts. It took just under an hour to replace & Chaster m8 you were right they dropped the G/box X/member down to get better access to the mounting clap  They said it can be done with it left in place but it's a lot more fiddey & takes longer  They replaced the x/member bolts as they were bit past their best due to age.The plus side was there was free drinks & internet access while you waited :p
