T2 2.7 swapped for a 3.0

Hi guys just a quick question can the T2's normal 2.7 engine be swapped for the new T2's 3ltr engine and if so is there much work to be done and is there much difference between the two. Was thinking of a little bit more power for the blue bull, cheers, Paul

Hi Paul :smile: I would think it'll be poss but almost every thing under the bonnet will have to be changed including the wiring harness & poss the G/box :roll: TBH I would fit a chip upgrade like a few members have done as IIRC it'll give almost the same power out put as a standard 3L & will cost a lot less :smile: Then with the money you'll save you could fit a K&N filter & get a larger bore free flow exhaust made up with say 2 boxes insted of the norm 3.

Cost less and in my opinion from driving both engines in SWB T2s the 2.7 is a better engine. Chip, strait through exause, blank EGR (if thats ok in a T) Waste gate valve, better air in take.

Engine swap is posible though, I know the 2.5, 2.7 and 3l will fit in the Nav, so should be ok in the T2 aswell.

Thanks guys for the comments, you should know me by now always like add to my T2 lol. Think I will keep the original engine and go for a chip and saw some K&N filters on ebay for sale, so might go for one when I can afford it, as for the exhaust I have just replaced my old one completely so will go for that mod a few months down the line lol. The EGR mod is it ok to do, I saw it in the download section and have always thought about it. Thanks again people, Paul.

Putting on a strait through exaust and blankint the EGR are the best mods i have done, much smoother engine now! pulls better from low revs. Next is to 'deCat' it.

Who made your custom exhaust I was wondering??

Looking to get a free-er breathing set up on my T2 SWB as the system is about shot...

Doesn't appear to be anyone who does an off the shelf one that i can find, does anyone know different??

You will have to have it custom made :roll: You can go to a larger bore with out to many probs as the turbo creates most of the back preasure the engine needs

Mine was off the shelf but there are loads of custom places
