hmm. reserve not met, any idea what value or reserve might be 6000lbs equates
to just under 3 tonnes which could be doubled with a pulley thing, correct name
escapes me, wonder if small enough for portable mount onto a ball receiver, just
need power supply front and rear then.

Rotherham, ahhh Sheffield's northern carpark. Went there once it was closed!

Holds breath waiting for a response from the Rotherham membership...

6000lb is a bit weedy for 4x4 use even with a snatch block (thats the words you were looking for).

Remember rated pulls are only with an empty drum, each layer of rope on the drum reduces the pulling effort by about 13% (IIRC),, you very soon et down to 50% of rated.

Rule of thumb is 3 x vehicle mass. So even for a SWB with nothing in it you're looking at 10,000lb but in reallity we all carry a good deal of gear so probably more like 12,000lb.

SWB=1500kg ish

1500 x 2.2 x 3 = 9900lb

ahh good to know, am i right in thinking a capstan winch would have constant rated pulls then as it does'nt hold any rope,
