I see in the paper, that some Muppet drove his Vauxhall Frontera on to Brean beach, Somerset .....and it sank :augie

The coastguard say they are thankful it wasn't a Land Rover, as that would have caused a major oil slick :lol:lol

again! cars are always getting stuck there, a few years back there was an old land cruiser stuck, could only see it at low tide, think it ended up getting completely berried!

I think they just sink and sink and then rust to nothing.

There are warning signs, all along the beach, some numpties just ignore them, it's the "I've got 4 wheel drive, I can go anywhere" attitude.
The Bristol Channel has a tidal rise and fall of 40 feet (second highest in the world) so when the tide is out it appears there is probably half a mile of firm, damp sand to drive on - NOT! Most of it is mud which traps many cars a year, some get rescued by tractor, which is about the only vehicle capable of doing this, but many fail to get rescued by the time the tide comes in, then it's too late - result? A written off car!

I remember a day at Boxgrove when a fronty and 4 landys got stuck in a mud area. I had swifty with me and we looked for 20 mins before offering help, pulled 3 of them out and then I said to Swifty shall we go in there? he said yes give it a go, so we did and had no problem at all so just to rub face we turned round and did it again, and drove off happy, Rick
