hi has anybody had any trouble running on sunflower or mod soya oil.

Sunflower burns too hot I seem to remember, leave it. Rapeseed is good though,:thumbs
Dont know what M.O.D soya is,?!

I did some tests on sunflower and rapeseed oil last winter, I found the sunflower started to wax at 0c and caused lumpy running at 50% mix with derv whilst the rapeseed was ok.

I have been using ASDA vegi oil but the cost of it is more than derv now so I am not using it. regards bri

Thanks Mr Zip, I was in Morrisons penrith today to busy eating my double egg on toast to look at the oil, I will look at the Kendal one tomorrow. bri

I'm just sticking to diesel at the moment as it is cold, SVO is expensive, and I have cut my weekly mileage by about 140 miles. Though I have run Sunflower and Rape Seed at 100% when the price was right:thumb2

Had trouble in these sort of temps last year, over did it with the veg oil and it wouldn't start. Once it was warmed up and running it was fine though.

Luckily no such probs with bio :D runs a treat even in last years -15 :naughty
Off to play in the snow later and tomorrow :clap:clap

just to agree my mav doesnt like sunflower oil, nor soya would not buy again, runs to lumpy.....runs fine on rapseed, when cheaper than diesel. well would run when the new battery arrives still waiting......still waiting...............door bell........nope......still waiting.....

i get my kfc oil from makro at the mo its 96p when not on offer its £1 but runs lovely :thumbs thats still a saving of around 40p/litre

Think there's 2 sorts of KTC one mod soya other rapeseed. (Different colour tins.) Both should be ok but rapeseed is a known one to run well.

The ones I get when I'm short are metal drums. Never see it in poly cubes.
