got a leaking bung so looking for a sump on ebay, the cheeper ones not listed as a 2001 but he said would probably fit, they do look alike though, thanks for any info....

The cheaper one wont fit td and tdi are different sumps

why is it always the dearer one, big difference in price too, its the thread on mine thats the problem, it'll be ok till next service just wanted to get one while i had the chance...

even easier just use the thin white thread joining tape.

would not risk that if the thread is stripped, but he has not replied as yet so do not know, Rick

Hi, my dad's did the same i tapped it out to 12mm or 12.5 im sure i used a 12mm bolt i will check tomorrow ,when you drain the old oil out catch it in a tub then when you have tapped it you can pour the old engine through to flush any bits that have got in out

i think the threads stripped so will go bigger on next service, cheers thats £10 well spent..
