Sump removal??

Hi has anybody removed teh sump from a 2.7tdi without taking out the engine as mine is rusty and needs welding and plating or replacement as it is leaking oil tried patching with plastic metal putty but it is still leaking and dont have the facilities or inclination to rmove engine as lt looks a fairly big job for the driveway so wondering if anybody has any tips on sump removal in situ?

Hello waterman,
You can remove the sump without taking the engine out, I have not done it myself, so I do not have detail of what you need to remove. Some of the suspension will need removing but not the entire front axle.

Anybody else ???? dont want to leave it dripping as it will get worse and dont want ot dump the oil when towing etc

PS anybody got a sump for sale in decent nick???
