Sump Leak

Hi, my 3.0di has some rust spots on the bottom that are noew leaking. Does anyone know if the 2.7 has the same sump as the 3.0DI?

I Seem to remember someone on here cleaned the holes and plugged them with weld on there sump

If I remember right he had to remove the front axle to drop the pan. But then if you are talking about changing it for another then that would also be true.

yeah it was mine, a local guy who normally works on landrovers said he could weld it no problem at this point dripping on my drive , i didnt think you could weld whilst on the car but he assured me he had done loads to sumps & diffs in the past so in no time at all it was up on the ramp oil drained he began cutting & shaping a new piece to fit, half hr later it was done the bill around £40 big sigh of relief compared to a new sump :doh well its done 8000 mls since been very pleased.. the car sadly now has no uses for me so its up for sale

MAXWELL also posted about his 3.0l sump rusting,(3.0 sump rot!)
he removed it , along with the diff and front cross member, repaired and sprayed it up, looked like a good job when finished
