Published Date: 14 June 2010 Angry postal workers in Northampton say they have been told to remove England flags from their delivery vans and anywhere they may be seen by members of the public because of fears they may cause offence.As England kicked off their World Cup campaign at the weekend, workers at the Crow Lane sorting office in Billing were told to remove flags from their vans and any offices where they could be seen by the public

THAT, could get annoying. its highly suggestive that we dont live in a democracy. its our flag, this is England, Great Britain and we have the god damn RIGHT to fly our flag. I cannot believe that the companies of this country are so far up their own arses that they do NOT support the country that makes them their money. tossers. if i worked for that company, i had my face painted as a St George flag.

Well,I suppose if it was acceptable for companies from other countries i.e.USA,France,Ireland,Germany,Iran,Iraq etc, to fly their countries flags if they were involved in the World Cup,then it would be ok to also fly the St. George flag or the Union Jack. Think the Royal Mail are just trying to keep a level playing pitch,no flags from any country. Otherwise your postie who may be from another country could claim he/she should be allowed to fly his/her country's flag. I do take your point about it being your flag but shouldn't Royal Mail just behave like a mail delivery company and not a football supporters club?

I totally understand what you are saying BUT on the flip side why shouldn't they support or it's staff to support their teams? I'm totally for multi flag displays, it gives me a sense of unity and I like to see the flags. I think it's great for a company to show it's support for a team or lots of teams, rather than just flat say NO it just takes away a choice from a country who's choices are becoming increasingly restricted.I think if they are choosing to be neutral, then they should change their company name to "mail" because to be Royal in this country is to be British, and most Brits support their countries football team and of course other teams but everyone should be allowed to show that support at their discretion. The company should be seen to be supportive. He'll, I don't even like football!

p.s. im certainly not arguing with you, or even disagreeing, its just a subject ive become increasingly interested in-the denial of the right to fly a flag.

I work for network rail & we're not allowed to fly the flag either, though this year they're not being so strict.
My mum works for Balfour Beatty & she was told to remove England flags from a notice board in the office, when she asked why, she was told that other nationalities may object & she replied " well they can put their own flags up can't they?" :lol

But it's not all bad, have a look at the RAC building on the M6, it's covered in England flags & there's also a large banner with all the nations flags, very sensible.

Now that is sensible and something that companies could allow staff to do. I'm Irish but the most ridiculous thing that I know of happening in England is English (not British) people not being able to get a passport with English as their nationality on it. Scots can put Scottish,Welsh can put Welsh but the English can only but British. Like as if English no longer exists as a nationality. That would make me want to move to Scotland or Wales

well my employer dsgi has gone to town on the world cup,
suppose in interest as one of our chains currys has a cash
for goals promotion on tv sales...

the atrium in the contact centre is awash with all of the
flags, the desks in my group of teams are dressed as england
funnily enough as we are decorating with an english theme,
other teams being alocated other countries. its a competition
to see which can dress their pods of desks the best.

when i was on the buses we avoided carrying flags, suppose
at worst claims of damage when they break loose.

guess its all down to PC and professionalism.

the games are a private thing, many want to go to work
to get away from it,though at home is funny to see
effort made by other house holders, especially several
houses in a row, bit of a local dressing up thing competion
like xmas lights....

one of the reasons i left england... your not allowed to be patriotic in england ... i wanted the kids to grow up having an identity something to be proud of ... your not allowed in england ... so went to wales

and its my home . its where i want to be

hey Extreme, totally agree with you mate. ive often thought of moving to Wales myself, but as im attached, it wont happen, so we settle for as many visits as we can afford. The thing I love about Wales, is the pride, and the relaxed nature, at least thats what ive found. ive a good friend down in Swansea, and he has let us stay at his parents static in the Gower, cant remember the name of the place but it begins with two Ll's and ends in IN!

That should narrow it down to a possible million locations:lol:lol:lol:lol:lol Haven't been to Wales much but have to say I agree about the people, except for the guy driving the coach on one visit who gave us a 10 minute lecture about his being Welsh NOT English BEFORE he let us on the coach. He was really proud of his Welsh heritage but we just got soaked and us with 50 plus 8yr olds to look after.
