It should be around 1.8~2.2V at idle rising to around 4.4V at ~3000 RPM.

The MAF needs to be connected as normal.
There are only 3 wires on the Hitachi MAF, +12V / GND / Output.
Connect the meter -VE to any vehicle ground point, and push a sewing needle through the wire insulation to test.
I do not recall the pin numbering for the Hitachi MAF, but 12V is easy enough to find and eliminate as of course is ground, that should leave one wire with a ~2V reading at idle.
Rev the engine and check the voltage rises similarly to the graph.
