Strange knock/bang!

Help!

Last Saturday I drove a bit with the 4x4 engaged, less that a mile. Then just after going back into 2x4 I noticed/heard a low thud/knock/bang that came from the front right hand wheel.

I checked the breaks, steering and suspension and all seems ok. It does not happen all the time, but every now and again when slowing down it makes the noise.

It doesn't make any sort of vibration or anything like that, just a low thud/knock/bang.

Any idea what it could be?

Hub disengaging?
 
No worries, all sorted. It was the stabilizer bar rubber ends.
 
Just a quick question.

So as not to damage the hole where the rubber section on the stabilizer bar link slots into the steering system (As it is that rubber that has perished and now it's steel bolt core is banging around a bit), would it be ok to remove the link and drive without it until the replacement gets here?

In our other 4x4 I used to drive around with the links uncoupled all the time and only ever connected them whenever I was going on a largish trip on motorways.
 
When my drop links popped I drove about for a couple of months with the arb disconnected. Will feel alot more like steering a boat about :D
Some people keep them disconnected as it allows more aticulation of the wheels if thats the right word. Think they do it mainly for off road purposes.
