Strange behaviour.

A little bit of strangeness this morning.
The centre console stopped working, or some elements did.
The radio wouldn't operate, but the cd ejection worked.
The heater fan wouldn't come on.
The A/c wouldn't operate but the rear window heater light came on (and I guess the element came on)
Clearly not fuses as some elements worked and the fact that everything returned to normal after stopping and restarting.
Any ideas on what happened?

I'm sure someone will have a better idea, but we had a similar thing with out Jeep Grand Cherokee. It occasionally did random things like turn the radio/air con on, wind the windows down etc.

That was caused by the E.C.U. getting it's panties in a bunch. The solution was to disconnect the battery for a few hours and then it was all fine.

I suspect it's differnet on a T2, but the symptoms are similar.

My gut feel on a T2 is a bad earth somewhere.

Interesting, I'll keep an eye out for more strangeness. It all seems fine at the moment. I am a little disappointed that it righted itself as it would have been the perfect excuse for a new radio...

Water in the elecrics ?

On Smart Roadsters it's water in the Electronics (ECU-fuse box) that cause these type of problems.

Nothing to worry about then, I can't control how much it rains...

ignition switch would be my guess, Rick
