So software it is. For example if I were to replace with a different clock it seems I would have it buy a plug in obd tool to correct the mileage.

I am thinking.... probably wrongly, that Alex wants to clock his truck....sorry perform mileage correction....:augie :lol:lol

Maybe to increase it's value...:doh :lol:lol

Alex, with those bumpers there is no way you can increase the value of that truck, except for ...
filling the tank with diesel lol

:lol:lol

I don't know if the mileage can be changed on nissan's Alex as a lot of the MK3's had their speedo's replaced under warranty due to blank or faulty display's but the new clocks weren't set to the mileage the trucks had covered instead it was just wrote down in the service book that there had been a clock change at what ever date & mileage:augie

Ouch that hurt Rustic..

Here seems to be the cheapest friendliest system I can see (we are OBD 2 right?)

If, and only if, pin 7 is fitted in your 16 pin connector will you have any sort of EOBD capability.
Having said that Nissan ONLY fitted this as a matter of EU compliance for post 2004 diesels.
So I would expect the bare minimum of functionality from it, just basic engine fault codes etc.
The primary diagnostic is still done by Nissan Consult.

but this would remain functional on an OBD2 port/reader?

or even so pin 7 would have to be present?

If pin 7 is fitted then you will have BASIC EOBD plus Nissan Consult.
If pin 7 is absent, then so is EOBD and its Nissan Consult ONLY.

Are you suggesting the above kit will not work?

I thought obd was obd :nenau

Used it to diagnose? :thumb2

No suggestion, just fact.
The diagnostic connector fitted to the circa post 2000 vehicles is 16 pin, unlike the earlier vehicles with a 14 pin connector. BOTH these diagnostic connectors provide Nissan Consult capability.
From around 2004 European legislation required that all diesel vehicles offer standard EOBD/OBD diagnostic capability.
Nissan implemented this on diesels manufactured after 2004.
But, as I have said, it is the bare minimum required in order to comply with EU legislation, very doubtful there is any clever stuff available.

You can identify if your vehicle has OBD by checking for the presence of pin 7 (K-Line) on the 16 pin connector.
If this pin is not there, NO OBD DEVICE will work.
If the "kit" you refer to requires OBD to operate, then in the absence of pin 7 it will not work.

Have you had any luck with the 16 pin consult stuff Ray? I know since the last time we spoke you've been busy with work stuff

I've tried that modified one you sent me back on 4 trucks now and it doesn't work on any of them

Alex one thing I would say is that a reasonable standard HPI check will show the mileage and also show any changes. My T2 had a clock change (digital screwed up) and it shows 27000 however when I completed a HPI check the last MOT before the clock change showed 46878 so in fact my T2 had done 74000 odd.

Just something to bare in mind should anyone need to change the clocks on the T2, certainly digital dash models.
