Still got Keyfob Problems

Hi all.
I have ongoing issues with my remote locking.
Few weeks back it suddenly didn't work with either fob.
Replaced all batteries, no change and neither seemed to re-code

Then one fob started to work again and has done for past fortnight.
Then it just stopped. During this time a member sent me a couple of key fobs with correct frequency. So I have tried all to these to re-code but they don't.

As a working suddenly stopped after a fortnight could it be something to do with the onboard unit. If so where is it within the vehicle and what does it look like. Might be worth checking the weathers not got to it or any associated wiring etc.

I think there are two or more types, one is mounted on top of the ignition switch , another the more common one is a bigger box with 3 plugs mounted behind the dash left of the instrument cluster, but your issue is beginning to sound like a more complicated problem, for around £60 you should be able to get a mobile locksmith to hook it up to to a diagnostic computer to locate and rectify the fault, Rick

So there's 2 frequencies you'll encounter on trucks over here, either 433MHz or 418MHz.

If you removing the steering column shroud, you should be able to locate the control unit for the central locking which should have the corresponding frequency on the label.

Here's mine from my 2004 Terrano, it's the Siemens variety and as you can see under the word "AGREE" in stars, below that you'll note 433MHz
