I know the t2 is wallowy on the front suspesion,
Can I easily stiffen it up?
Any advice apreciated.

pollybush it all and have word with terrannasorous about his new shock line.

I polybushed mine and TBH I didn't notice any difference?

I certainly don't find it wallowy, ask Extreme - I don't hang about and find it very car-like much of the time, and I've had three of the things over the last 12 years......are you sure your front ARB is in place and has the links fitted, cos if it isn't that would be a major cause of what you are experiencing? I had mine off for a week or so and it was like driving a marshmallow.....

Or did you just climb out of a sports car? LOL:)

Everthing is were it should be, I find the terrano soft especially on the front end, My last motor was a Isuzu Bighorn with lotus handling, had it five years, fantastic handling for a heavy 4x4, not expecting the same handling but I have driven 3 tII's now and they are all the same, a bit soft at speed.

Replied to your PM.

Have you reset the front suspension back to std height? Especially considering you hav ethat winch mounted so far forward. I found with both of mine that resetting the suspension back up to std (they all sag) improved the handling no end.

Oh thats a good question, How do I go about reseting my front suspesion?

I asume the 3.0 also has torsion bar suspension? If so, just need to crank it up either side until the front wheelarch is an inch or so closer to the wheel than the back....theres a workshop i think and tons of threads.

you should not have any problem with the handling on 3.0lt T2
some thing must be worn out like the others say wind up the tortion bars
and fit H/d rear springs :thumb2
what tyres are you running i was running AT2 on mine 50-60k at set even
the way i used to drive it about.
kept if for 5 years great mota well nearly as good a the patrol :)

Hi aggas and welcome - great to have someone overseas to add to our community, we already have a few!

There are several ways to go depending on what you want to do.

1. A body lift, which in simple terms involves putting a set of aluminium blocks between the chassis rails and the body shell - this of course means ground clearance will be the same but the bodywork will be higher (by the height of the lift blocks), but this will help with approach/departure angles and could help with fitting larger tyres.

2. A chassis lift which I think involves fitting taller springs at the back and winding up your torsion bars at the front. This will give you extra ground clearance but if you go too mad you will start to get problems as it can eventually upset steering geometry.

3. Fitting taller tyres will also give you extra ride height. It seems that 31x10.5x16 is the maximum size you can fit to an unmodded T2.

The most straightforward (and cheapest!) things to try first though are:

1. Wind up torsion bars so that the top of the front wheelarch is 2-3 cms closer to the top of the tyre than the rear - in other words almost level but not quite. (This can usually done within existing tolerances - if you fit higher rear springs you usually have to reindex the torsion bars).

2. Fit 31x10.5x16 tyres - thats assuming you have 16 inch wheels as standard? If you want to swap wheels, the T2 is a standard 6-stud japanese pattern so you will find wheels from Shogun, Hilux, etc..should fit straight on, although offset can be different sometimes.

3. Remove side steps/towbar if fitted!

Those three alone will give you a good start - see how you get on once you've done that and decide for yourself if you want a further lift later.

Good luck - lots of useful threads on here for you to look at and lots of help when you need it!:thumbs:thumbs

In schedule;);)

I have already wind them up. Can't go upper!!!

I already use Greenway Macho 225/75/16 with extra wheels;);)

All that is already done. What am i looking now is to go up 3-5cm.

davemud, can you please tell me what intercooler fan do you use?

Of course you can you just need to remove the adjuster arms and turn tem a few splines before refiting if you have run out of adjustment.

Barely any difference in size over standard, if you want some real clearance you need bigger tyres any thing up to 31" or 785mm diameter will fit.

You need a set of 2" lift springs and sort the torsion bars out as above to suit.

If i only use 2'' lift springs, don't need to change the shocks?

Depends on the length of the springs. For LWB I sell +2" and +20% uprated. The static spring length is the same as the standard spring. So unless you are going to use relocation cones then you can't use longer shocks as the springs may fall out when articulated otherwise. For the SWB I have +2" std rate, these can be used with longer shocks as I and a couple of others have got fitted. Also unless you remove the anti roll bar you won't get enough suspension travel to need longer shocks either.

At the front there is no point in fitting longer shocks as the travel is limited by the suspension design rather than shocks and springs.

EDIT

Oh and just thought - you don't need longer brakelines on the terrano either theres enough length in them as standard to acommadate even +2" shocks.
