Hi had new tyres fitted to my 3.0 t2 and it had a really bad steering wobble at low speed (under 50).
Had the wheels balanced again and tracking done .
It know has a very slight wobble at (60) and seems very dependant on road condition .
Any ideas on what to check next .
Thanks Ady

what tyers you have fitted? any play in the wheel bearings?

and more basic and urgent - have you checked the wheel nuts are done up properly?

top point re wheel nuts :thumb2

if theyre ok , are theyre budget tyres (or any for that matter) they could be crocked.

Also check the balancing machine used accomodates the wheel centres of the terrano wheels. Many inc popular retail outlets like kwik fit dont.

Best way to check the balance is done properly or tyre can be balcanced is to get them to balance them then take the wheel off the machine, turn it through 180 degrees and put it back on and spin away.

If its still showing balanced your ok on that front, if not theyre doing it wrong or the machine is as above :thumb2 Powder balance as used in trucks solved mine.

Other problem that Ive been told occurs on cheaper tyres with lower quality control is the tread is , to put it real simple as it had to be to me, is glued on and finished wonky so especially with m&s type treads its not running straight (like buckled or warped)and pulls you all over which can transmit as vibration.

hi checked the wheel bearings a couple of weeks ago as thought they might be the problem will check again in the morning
And checked the wheel nuts this morning and all tight also looked at the bushes etc and could not see any obvious play.
Tyres are kuhmo road venture a/t .
It had normal road tyres on before and steering was very smooth (no wobble)

If all you change dis the tyres they or the balance are looking suss.

I had Kuhmos on mine when I had the balancing problem. Could just be co incidence I'm sure. Powder balance from my local HGV tyreman solved it :thumb2
