my truck is pulling to the left.
its not the tyres, brakes, antiroll bar, droplinks as there all new.
ive had the tracking done today. and im going to fit new shocks at the weekend.
the only other thing I can think of that's causing this is the torsion bars? would it?
when I was painting the chassis I noticed the pins where you wind them up are not set the same.
one pin looks shorter than the other.
could this be the problem?
I don't want my expencive rubber wearing away before its due date
thanks

Does it do it all the time ? on power/off power ?

Are the tyres actually showing any signs of uneven wear ?

Have you checked suspension bushes inc rear ?

its a thing ive only just began to notice to be honest.
its seems to pull ever so slightly to the left, just enough to make you notice to more or less constant pull.
had it tacked today after noticing slight wear in the passenger side front tyre. like a slight shredding of the rear of the tread pattern.
I don't have too much faith in the guy who did the job though.
I will keep a very close eye on it as I don't want to part with any more cash for more tyres just yet.
my main question is at this point is.
could it possibly be incorrect torsion bar adjustment?
Im fitting new shocks at the week end maybe its them?

Have you lifted the truck ?
Torsion bars as long as they're the same both sides and the front is about 15mm lower than the back , should be fine :thumb2

body lift only so that should'nt be an issue.
I will take a pic of torsion adjusters tomoz.

Adjusters wont matter. Check the actual suspension ht. Make sure the truck's unloaded and parked on LEVEL ground.
Have you checked castor angle? Top arm bushes ? Comp rod bushes?

Wheel bearings, brakes draging (sliders stuck) auto hub sticking, ball joints :nenau So many things to check

Mine started pulling to the right after a torsion bar lift and I've found it's because I need to adjust the shims as I have invoked some negative camber

Going to get a free wheel alignment off my mate at Kwik Fit next week and hopefully he'll be able to tell me what I need to remove and get it level again before I put two new tyres on the front for MOT

bearings good, auto hub serviced when changed discs, sliders free and all good,
ball joints new,
in fact my misses is complaining now as me and my truck are on top of each other more than we are:nenau

Top arm bushes then, comp rod bushes. Tyre pressure ?
Have you checked out your back end  Could be sitting squiffy, things like panhard bushes , radius arm bushes etc.
Good luck

Mine slowly drifts to the left, I live with it, it could be owt I suspect comp rod bushes tho, I'll get around to doing them at some point

torsion bar adjuster one side

theres a fair bit of difference here a good half inch.
slightly less on the wish bone to floor measurement slightly under half inch.
could this be the problem to my steering pull.

I have my doubts that it's your torsion arms. They might be set differently to take account of driver position, battery etc. Lots of vehicles have handed coils for the same reason.
It looks like most people have covered what you should check, but certainly don't underestimate the possibility of "rear wheel steer" if there's anything wrong at the back.
Dodgy caster angle from a lift will make your steering feel light, twitchy, wandery or a combination of those things.

You can get the toe settings overall correct but out side to side if you understand what I mean. Some cars even have the toe settings deliberately unequal to account for the camber on our roads.

Although I've never found it necessary on a 4x4, a proper 4 wheel align like on a Hunter machine makes an enormous difference to driving. I've had a couple of motors done in the past and it's amazing the difference, but it will cost you more to have done.

Over time and lots of miles a steering box/idler can get a sort of wear "notch" at the centre position and if you adjust the steering so that it is in a new position and no longer sitting in that "notch" then the steering can become wandery as the box floats in and out of the notch or worn area, though I doubt that's your problem from what you say and I don't know if it particularly occurs on Terranos.

The last thing I can think of is tyres. I've seen the blocks wear on the rear edge on some tyres and it's just seemed to be the tyre design/construction because the camber would be ok on the vehicle, it's called heel and toe wear or scalloping I think and we could never stop it, just swap tyres end to end. Some people will also say swap tyres side to side but I've always been reluctant to do this because I think that tyres may bed in in a particular direction of rotation and from experience, I've seen tyres that were swapped side to side suffer from accelerated wear. I'm not saying any tyre would suffer from this, just that I've seen it happen.
You could also experiment a little with tyre pressures. I've run tyres on 4x4s 4 or 5psi higher than might be suggested with good results, you just have to be wary initially of handling changes after upping the pressure, as well as doing careful monitoring of the tyres.
