Seem to be getting loads of static on radio (am) when i put blower on, even when i lower or raise windows. any clues or cures as why this might be happening, is it the radio ?

any advice would be appreciated

I could be wrong  but I would first clean up the earth points in the engine bay & then any others you come across & see if things improve

thanks for that, will give that a go, i did take radio out to see if there were any exposed wires or if something was touching something it shouldn't, all appeared OK!

thanks again

Try looking for a gadget that plugs into your aerial line to reduce static I can't remember the name it is called but any electronic shop should be able to help

You mentioned AM on the radio, what about on FM.
If it is only on AM, has it just occurred or have you just started to use AM, as AM is usually poor reception anyway.

If it is on FM as well, check the following:
Where is the aerial on your model, it could be a bad or corroded connection at the aerial base. Check the aerial connection at the radio end.
It could also be a loose fuse or a corroded fuse in the fuse box. (unlikely).

Certainly a bad earth is my first thought.
You could try putting a new thicker earth to the radio case in addition to the current one.

It could be a bad earth or fuse link on the blower or window circuit.
Hope this helps.
best regards,
Rustic

FM no static at all (I think that's a Steely Dan track!).

I have checked the aerial, the contact there doesn't seem too clever, possible taken a whack on a height bar at car park or something similar. are they easy to replace, I mean the whole thing, does it involve removing lining in roof to get to the aerial housing?
