Does mean that I have misunderstood something (be patient, I just want to make sure and ...I'm easily confused) - if it is not a TDi and there is no power to the fuel pump (as I think I found earlier), does that mean there is a fuel blockage instead? or should I do the mini filter anyway??

no power is fault no mater what the minni filter is seperate isue well worth doing whilst your under bonnet kindve thing being td it hasnt got so much electronics to throw a wobbler! getting power to stop solenoid or taking it out dimantling re fitting to stop fuel leaks but without plunger on solenoid car wont turn of with ignition itll need stalling.

Thanks everyone for your ideas. Back to the grind tomorrow and won't get chance to look until the weekend. If you have any more suggestions (polite) let me know. Ta, Martine

If its the same as my maverick, it has a chip in the key that is red via a loop of wire around the key lock barrel.Check if you have power at the connector at the stop relay it applies 12v when running and removes it when stopped. The imobilizer would break this connection to stop theft.

Hi all,
Just to let you know - problem solved. Lots of clues from several of you re the key immobiliser. Only became obvious when I gave the keys to someone else and found I had been using the spare one which had no chip in it therefore immobiliser doing it's job perfectly. DOH!! Thanks very much for all your support. I have learned a lot in the last few weeks. Cheers, Martine

starting problems

You can get a chiped key copied in most key cutting places in the high street,They read the key number( 4 or 5 digits) and program a blank key, then cut the blank. My own chip key was very worn so I got a new one cut for 35 quid. The guy in the shop said you can lock up some sytems by using a unchipped key for ignition as it goes into a anti theft mode.

Makes sense - i'll put it on my Terrano "to -do" list!! Cheers
