Ok, im being Idle here cos i carnt be arsed to look yet, But

I just started having starting problems, turns over mbout 30 seconds to a minute before she even tries. She use to fire almost right away.

She is running on SVO at the min, but never had any problems before with that, and when running, again she is fine.

If i roll her down the hill she fires right away, so i though about starter motor problems, but it dont sound like its going any slower than it ever has, and they not cheap just to find out im wrong.

I also though about glowplugs not heating in the engine as well, could this be the cause.

She just (Tuesday) had a brand new battey cranking 95Ah as i though it was a battery problem, turns out my old one is fine, but i can now put a split charger on her, so not too botherd.

Also though about the pump not pulling the SVO very well, but surely that would aslo be the case when she is running as well.

OK, over to you guys, lets see what we come up with...

Makeitfit, im expecting some wierd and wonderful add on from you, maybe in the form of an afterburner or 24v starter motor with LPG injection. :lol

id be looking at glow plugs / fuel filter, its possible the filter needs replacing , check the easy stuff first :thumb2.

regards

pete

Thats why i use this site, i never gave the filter a thought. Dho :doh.

Cheap as chips and could do with swapping anyway, its been on 12 months with SVO running through it.

Cheer Pete.

beware tho , some filters ( cheap ones ) have had sealing issues , quite a few members have had issues with this ., might be worth cleaning out your mini banjo filter too , if you have one :thumb2

No smoke till it fires up. then a ploom of white smoke, but im guessing thats from the fuel that in the engine trying to start it.

No banjo Briggie i checked that a while ago to see if that was the problem with it running a bit juddery.:thumbs

Just been out in it and it started right away, but it will be a bitch again in the morning :lol

I will sort it, its just fun finding out what it is.

No point in having a truck like mine if you dont want to be fixing it, i may as well have one like yours.

I almost got a 02 plate yesterday, but it was in such good condition i did not see the point, id only get to look at it as there would be little to fiddle around with. :lol

I may have found the problem.

Testing the glow plugs from front to back this is what im getting.

1.2h 1.2h 311.5h 1.2h

as you can see, the 3rd glow plug is er, a little out!

Going to do the fuel filter as well while im at it, but shop not open today cos of its a bank holiday.

Should start without any glow plugs at this time of year if all else is ok but they may be needed if you are on 100% svo. David.
