hi, lads i,m back with a problem you may have had before sorry i havent been on for a while, but i had a battery blow up in my face not had any long lasting effects my eyes are okay now. anyway the car starts runs great [new starter and battery for obvios reasons,] then today after shopping in asda,[oh veggie oil 3 litres 3 QUID] SHE WOULDNT START ,opend injector no fuel so called out recovery the lad sprayed easy start in air filter she started. very embarissin i had convinced myself it may be the fuel stop solenoid now i,m foxed. it has fly by wire pedal/pump. hope you can help.:nenau

Nasty. Glad you have no lasting damage to your eyes etc.

Check the fuel leak off pipes on the injectors as they tend to perish and leak air. Also some of the cheaper fuel filters have been known not to seal correctly either and let air in.

Lucky escape with the battery. How did that happen? had battery just been charged?

Glad you are ok after the battery blow up.I had the same thing happen to me a good few years back and was very fortunate not to have any serious injury. It was nevertheless a frightning experience so I know how you must have felt at the time.
May I say that my injury was limited by two things.
1) Milk.I had read that in the case of acid etc wash the affected area with milk.So I washed my eyes, face and hands in the stuff.in fact sloshed it all over but especially my eyes.
2) Potato peels. My missus had read that potato peels are used extensively in the far east to treat burns so she immediately peeled a mound of potatoes and placed the peels on my fact which had an immediate soothing effect.
By the time the doc arrived the redness had turned to pink and the next day I looked like I had a serious dose of sunburn.
Bits of battery had lodged in my face like splinters and that took some time to sort out.

My eyes were painfull for a few days but again no serious damage. The major problem was that we ate chips and mashed potatoes for the rest of the week!.

Moral of the story.? Be very carefull when working with batteries, they can explode.A short circuit inside the battery can result in a gas build up and the slightest spark can cause it to go bang.

Love it.

When I was younger working as an engineer, I got fragments of cast iron in my eyes. I was taken to hospital. My eyes where coated in local anaesthetic, and the fragments were picked off by a very attractive female doctor using a hypodermic syringe needle. Seeing that needle coming towards your eye, and lightly feel it entering and picking bits out of my eye is a feeling I will never forget.

Some of the "Old boys" at the company never ever bothered having them removed and they had blobs of brown rust in their eye balls.

Everyone wears loads of PPE now so no problems.

Starting problem

Hi, yes i,d just taken charger off batt , so i used a spare one to give it abit more crank barely touched the earth with jump leads and bang. Lucky her royal highness was in got her to fill up sink and put loads of salt in it, hurt like hell but i didnt have to go on a spud diet, trip over to a/e 3 litres of saline wash and apair of roy orbison specials sorted. Aslong as ive got my eyes back that was the frightner. Thanks for the advice i,ll check those bleed off pipes.

Maybe it's just me, but I haven't had a need to charge a battery in over 25years. I've only had a battery run flat on me a couple of times and jump leads and a drive around for a few miles always sorted that. I hate battery chargers. Did have batteries run flat on a truck a few times when working but I was always smart enought to give the mechanic LOADS of room when he was connecting the jump leads, hate to be standing close when two 12v truck batteries let go:eek::eek:
