Hi this is my first post so please bear with me! I have a 1998 Maverick 2.7Tdi with intercooler.
I have had starting problems for ages and have tried various things listed below but now it has got really bad. My Mav did start at times when the glowplug indicator acted as it should by staying on for a few secs then going off or maybe it would flash on and off a bit then start.
Now it comes on sometimes it buzzes from the pump and then the glow plug relay can be heard clicking on and off this can take 30 secs or I have given up after 2 mins plus but will not start. What can I easily check to try and find what is at fault.
So far I have prevoiusly checked the glow plugs and feeds-ok, changed the glowplug relay, changed the contacts on the back of the ignition, uprated the battery to a larger one, changed battery terminals, checked mini filter - not fitted, changed fuel hoses now using clear PVC so I could check fuel flow, changed fuel filter and primer head as it was leaking for a aftermarket one.
A long list I know and why I am getting more fed up.
The Mav turns over fine but sometimes recently when it did catch it would cut out after a few seconds.
Sorry its so long but am desperate please HELP!! :(

you checked anything to do with the injectors/pump if you crack an injector does fuel come out when cracking?

Any Immobilizers on it?

No haven't cracked an injector, but I have run the pump from a fuel can so I know it is dragging fuel into the pump and returning it back. Will try to crack an injector tomorrow weather permitting.

The imobiliser is the standard one with the flashing red light on the dash, but don,t know how to check it out. Would this keep the glow lamp indicator on?

I am willing to try anything to narrow down the possibilites.

Hi Siweb

Have managed to crack the feed to the rear injector and cranked engine over for a while but no fuel.

Guess this means either pump U/S or part of system stopping it pumping?

Any further checks I can do to narrow it down
