It started a couple of weeks ago, came to start truck and nothing, got Green Flag out he checked what he could and then we bump started it, no problem started straight away he thought it was starter motor or an earth. got it home booked it into my local garage in a couple of days time and left it on drive thinking would need to bump it again. Time to go to garage started first time garage had it a week, started every time no problems found. got it back fitted new 100 quit battery just to be sure and cleaned all terminals I could find, no problem even went to London in it last weekend and work all week. Came home from work this morning no problem tried to start it this afternoon not a peep, I'm well p..... off. Turn ignition get all dash lights but that's it no engine turning over or anything, there is,nt even any dimming of the dash lights when you turn the ignition. When it first happened thought might be immobiliser but it bump started OK. Any of you clued up lads got any ideas:doh:doh.

Hi, it could be the ignition switch, try wiggling the key and try.

This is a common fault, and the part you need is available from a dealer, and not that bad.

Some advice will come from those in the know..

Best regards, Rustic

is there a click sound in the engine as you go to turn it over? If so then it's not the ignition switch but the starter motor.

Have you been in deep(ish) water before it started to happen?

Happened to me the day after laning in it for the first time

Turn the ignition key really slowly, this usually makes it work if it's the switch. Also the starters do cause problems similar too. Also worth checking the positive battery lead as the cable breaks next to the terminal.

as other suggest, Ignition key! so often over looked. turn key really slowly, see if it starts. Keep doing that, if it starts then, you need a new ignition switch but they are cheap and easy to swap.

good luck!

starter

mine did the same thing fitted a new starter problem solved easy to change

Cheers lads for all the advice, turns out its the starter so getting a new one tomorrow, its true what my dad used to say: Women and cars keep you poor. at this moment in time cars are just ahead. £160 starter motor. cheers.:thumb2
