The terminal that supplies the power to the glow plugs has shorted and melted.

New £8.00 relay fitted and glow plugs are now getting power and cycling on and off until the engine has warmed up.

I'd have taken the opportunity to relocate somewhat and or waterproof it like I did with the clip top box and conduits with breather :thumbs2

funny you should say that.
Iv'e got a IP66 rated junction box and cable glands sat in the kitchen to do just that:thumb2
I just wanted to get the relay wired in and everything tested:thumbs

Waterproof box for the new relay to sit in:thumb2

Its small enough to fit in the recess where the relay sits between the battery and inner wing so no need to relocate and mess about extending and re routing the wiring:thumb2

Good job, it does make you wonder what Nissan were thinking putting the relay there.

I know it's not the best location.
Will soon have it waterproofed so one less thing to worry about.

It's crazy!!!! It's like one of the most important relays on the car and is the only one I've found that is exposed to the elements :doh

Even with the wheel arch protective plastics fitted they still catch crap and corrode

thats the same box as i have fitted to caravan roof for the solar panel wiring.
