Today the truck wouldn't start, never even turned over, no hesitation what so ever, first thoughts were the starter motor but about 10 mins later it turned over fine and has been ok since, could this be a sticky starter or is it possibly the ignition switch? can't afford to have the truck off the road as i need it for work.

When the ignition plays up there seem to be other symptoms electrically to. Typically I can't remember what they were now, so next time it happens see if anything else is wonky.
You could take a pre emptive strike and get the switch out ready

Hazard lights flashed? all i know is when starter has gone before its been like a flat battery, turning but no start, this time there was no turning at all

If it is the switch then try turning it very slowly to the start position, if this works (sometimes) then I would go switch, if this fails wind your window down and while holding key in start position hit starter with a bar, if this works then starter, odd quirk on these is the solenoid gets its earth through the brushes so almost worn out brushes gives this problem, Rick

when my switch was playing up sometimes no light on dash came on.

I have a similar issue. It appears to be the ignition switch which causes the issue in my case atleast. It turns too far and drops all power to the car. With a gentle turn it should start happily.
I've got to find the time to pop my column apart to look at the cause. I have a horrid feeling I'm going to struggle to find a new switch as I worry the barrel and/or switch have warn.

cr,it is an easy fix, just take covers off and look right at the far end of switch where you will see the switch wires, this little unit is held onto the barrel with 1 very hard to get to small self tapper, undo it and pull the plastic away and walla the faulty item.cost me £37 from nissan.

Well after changing the ignition switch it turns out it's the starter :doh :lol :lol

I'm with Panealbeater there on that one, I've had those symptoms too with the Maverick and had no dash lights at all.

I'll also vouch for the slow flick of the ignition trick working sometimes.
