the starter has just gone again on my 97 terrano 2.7 tdi, ive had it nearly two years & it went shortly after i got it 12 mnths later packs in again, new one under warranty just 10 months & has just gone again or so i suspect.
wont start & just clicks getting cheesed off . Any one had similar problems :?
Last one I was told solenoid sticking then shorting & draining battery .
Do i need to get a Nissan or ford replacement one for reliability :?

id look for previous threads on ignition switch sometimes the plastick piece at back burns out if i remember right giving starter trouble

Jace is quite right there are previous threads regarding this subject. My ignition switch is faulty, I have the replacement switch but I have not had time to change it. What mine does is either it just clicks and doesn't turn or it will start and run very rough for a few seconds and cut out. When you then go to restart it wont start but it turns over and the management light flashes. Eventually after about ten seconds it will then start and have no problems for a while. Also check your positive battery cable as this breaks where it joins the terminal.

I would also check you have a large enough battery fitted and it is in good condition, the starters could be failing due to inadequate power from the battery over time.

thanks folks a few things to check out there chucking it down outside so not able to do anything as yet !! Friendly mechanic on hols still too. Old moggy on sorn so no transport

yes 1968 two door almond green run as only car until 4th child meant we needed more room done 50k over 6 years no bother struggling with modern mechanics now though nissan loaded with electronics total opposite of mog Even copes with our track 1 mile of potholes
Still raining!!!!!

thats firm in leamington puts a fiat? v4 in front moggies uprate all running gear to suit aswell

Theres loads of engines you can drop into a moggy Jace  seen a lot of 1275cc metro engines fitted & the odd few metro turbo lumps, the best one i've driven had a 1380cc race spec engine out of a mini  mind you I have seen one with a 3.5 V8 fitted 8O

Seven if your is standard with the 1100cc engine & in good condition it'll be worth a bomb  I saw a mint one the other year fetch £11K 8O

sorry to dissapoint you but it would prob take 11k to mint it very shabby to look at but solid with a few welds at least it starts though still wet no joy yet on terrano
