starter motor types HELP!!!!

just got off the phone with a bloke at da autoparts, 2nd hand starter for £55 only problems is he said there's 2 types for the td and he wants the part number, i thought there's one for the TD, TDI, and mistral, but he say's the TD has 2 types, i thought this was Bull sh1t

they are the same

the only difference seems to be a cover fitted over the end as far as im aware there all interchangeable you can clearly see the 2 different types on ebay.
my local starter rebuilder guy said either would fit my tdi.

im sure some one else will be along in a minute to confirm or deny my input :thumbs

thanks guys for the help, now, i tryed boosting my truck, wouldnt start so momentarily tried on 24V yes i know, still cranked very slowly and wouldn't start

the starter is fudged:doh

now, how do i go about changing it and is it better to go new or 2nd hand??

I would go new as well, you could get a 2nd hand one and then it fail after a few months and have to start again and be out of pocket...:thumbs

when I changed my first one for a new one I went through 4 new starter motors in about 1 and a half years. They are crap.

just purchased a new starter motor, should be here monday, nice way to spent birthday money
