Having my stainless exhaust done on monday, any recommendations on size, straight through or with silencer?

Mr K says straight through and 3 inch, I am interested in this for mine as that great big box is a definite vulnerable item for off road, Rick

Hi Neil
I've found some guys to do mine.
I'd spoken about a muffler to them to.
They recommended a straight through, but can include a lift out section for a muffler if later required and to get the sound right.
Bearing in mind, that diesels don't sound as impressive as petrols.
And do you need a bit of Back pressure?
A Sports cat, if a cat is required for MOT, is something else to consider
I'm still unclear of the legalities of this.
Your Patrol is definitely going to benefit!!!

I am having the cat replaced as that is where it's rotted through. I would like to go straight through but not having the back pressure is a concern. I think the stand exhaust is 2 1/2 inch so I might go 3 but I'll see what they recommend. It's not really about the noise but if it's a by product of a stainless 3 inch then all the better. I do like the noise from the V8 diesels on the Aussie videos.
Just on a side note does anyone know where the cabin filters are located?

There’s a company called Longlife, they have a few dealers around the country I’m going to Basingstoke. The cost is no more than a stock exhaust. £250 for the cat and £450 for the rest of the exhaust. I guess if I don’t have the muffler/silencer then it should be cheaper

I made my own straight through from the cat onwards with stainless pipe, truck was able to breath again and no issues with lack of back pressure, turbo and the cat provided that as well as keeping the sound meaty without being too obnoxious! :nenau

Well I'm here having the exhaust done, decided to go with standard size 2 1/2 inch with high flow cat and straight through.

Well, just got back from having the exhaust done. It was a long boring day, but, wow what a difference. The only way I can describe it is the truck feels 1/2 a tonne lighter. It is so responsive, there must have been some sort of blockage in the old zorst and to top it all the price I was quoted was including VAT I thought the price was plus vat. I'm one happy bunny [emoji16][emoji16] I've added a couple of pics, not brilliant but I didn't want to get dirty laying on the floor lol

I could do with some of that, what sort of money we talking? Rick

Yeah, I don't weld or have the benders so I have to pay the price

Do you have any gauges to see the difference in boost, egt temps?

Looks a good job, any other mods done?

I have a boost gauge which seems to be down about .15 of a bar, at 70 mph it normally sits at about .6 of a bar but was between .45 and.5 Not fitted the egt yet

Just had a look on line and for 3 inch I can get all the pipe and bends for around £150, just got to cut and shut, Rick

I also had a sports cat fitted and I'm guessing £350 of labour to pay for.
