just managed to get a 2.7td 2004 body is in good condition runs fine but on the way back developed a bad squealing/rattle from the front increased with speed dipped clutch still there so i tried the 4x4 and this made it worse i am suspecting hubs though wheel was not hot any ideas

Front Prop Shaft UJ's or sliding joint :thumb2

Glad you've managed to find one mate, lets see some pics when you get 5 :thumb2

I agree with Banshee, unless somebody has replaced the front hubs they would be fixed hubs as standard. If the slider is buggered don’t bother with UJs just get another shaft. Easy peasy just reach under car and grab the propshaft, if it has a tiny click or you can feel the movement just replace it. Ran mine for several months without the front propshaft until I finally got a replacement.

yeah i was think that i will need to put a clutch in this one at some point got it a very good price so nice to drive the 2.7 again not impressed with the 3 litre seeing it has a chain just cleaning the sides of as someone at some point had tried to spray the sides with areosol and made a right mess but made a good bargaing point so lucky they never used a laqure so some thinners wiped rear quarter down paint came off easy just the rest to do has had the single din fascia mod done and has a new sony stereo in what i am thinking is to take all the bits and make one good truck and sell 3 litre on as tested to feb 2019 this one is solid sills seat belt mounts etc all good so makes a good starting point has been kept clean underneath too nice smooth engine gearbox 4 wheel drive moves nice and freely pics to follow soon when she is cleaned up :thumb2

It’s the colour that has rust prevention properties :lol

Wanna buy mine Banshee:naughty

i would never never buy another one from scotland (my wife is from aberdeen) i did it looked good but was rotten as a pear as they use normal salt which gets compacted in to all areas and just rusts it all out their salt is the same as table salt not like the rock salt we use so just gets caked on there luckily i only bought it for spares plus it had a 11 month mot so be carefull:augie

ok removed front prop and found that the uj on the gearbox side rusted barely able to move it and squealed on movement so uj is knackered:doh the slider is free and front uj looks newer and has a grease nipple:lol why the did not do it on the rear i will never understand:nenau now do i replace the knackered uj if so how easy is it or like jim has says get another shaft if so does anyone have one for a 2004 2.7td

Easy enough to change a UJ, think Banshe did a pic by pic of the job, Rick
