Been scratching my head on this one. 2005 3.0 tdi terrano. When cold for instance having been stood overnight. the clutch operation is light and quiet. After 10 minutes or more of using the clutch it begins to make a graunching noise (technical term) and is noticeably harder to depress the pedal. The knock on effect is that the gearchange is slightly more difficult. Engine off and the problem is exactly the same. Has been doing this for the 3000 miles I have owned it. Save giving everything a WD40 bath I welcome any thoughts. Overall a superb car.

Pyrenees eh? Which end? Anywhere near Lannemezan?

clutch fluid, breather pipe, master cyclinder? maybe air lock? seems to me, that heat is an affecting factor here...

Near Bagneres de Bigorre BTW

I know it well.....I have a place about 8 kms SW of Trie sur Baise (14kms east of Tarbes) with panaromic views of the mountains - Pic du Midi just left of centre, but at the same time its juuuuust beyond the range of the worst of the weather LOL.

Are you there 'en permanence'?

Semi permanent. Valee de Lesponne. You see em. I live in em. Burn plenty of wood here.

Sounds great....I think I've walked part of that valley with my french neighbour when he dragged me out at 4am one morning so we could get up to the highest accessible bit of the Pic du Midi and back before it got too hot.

He was 70 at the time, but it was only when we got going that he casually mentioned he'd just done the G20.....one of the hardest walking routes in the world across the spine of Corsica....115 miles of it.

He took off like a bloody mountain goat leaving me in his wake LOL.

Yep they are nuts here. If the walks say 2 and a half hours them they really are. Lots of French men looking like old lean hunting dogs. On the flip side, many with berets and the old gitanes permanently attached to their faces. I think you know Capt Limey, fellow forum member and Terrano owner. (my Father in law)

mine was the same new master cylinder all ok now.

Spudd, many thanks. Milner off road can deliver to France and the part is not expensive. I think that's the way to go. All the fluid will get changed as a result as per previous posts.

Hi LC
If you need a pit stop/berth around Cahors the wine cellar is well stocked at chez nous, you're always welcome.
