does anyone know how many splines are on the front driveshafts? ;)

Which end? Auto Hub end or diff end?

I don't know but there are various pics in the download section if it's the Hub end.

Have to ask Rick, after all he changes his often enough... Mind you, it's so often now, I doubt he has time to count them, otherwise he would run out of time to change them..:lol:lol

Sorry, Mean the shaft between the CV and the diff end.

I will go out to the workshop shortly and count them for you, thats if they are countable, it is prety mashed, Rick

Any chance of getting a diameter of the shaft too? Cheers

Knew you would ask that so did it anyway, 32 splines @ 26mm diameter, and a pic for good measure, I removed the circlip and lifted the spider a bit to expose the splines, you can see two of the rollers are missing that's cos they broke up, the spot of grease at 1 oclock was to aid counting, Rick

Cheers rick, Now need to see if I can find longer shafts that will fit without having to get some custom machined.

You wouldn't happen to know roughly the difference in length between drivers/passenger side shaft lengths? ;)

Not yet but when I change the OS one I will be able to compare it with the NS I may be wrong but as the diff is offset and there is an extension to the diff on the OS I am assuming that Nissan made them both the same, makes sence from a manufacturing point of view, Rick

I guess you already have the info on the CV end, or are you assuming they are the same? Rick

Well I am hoping I can keep the CV end and just change the 'middle' shaft to a longer one, It's a longshot finding one that will fit without going custom but worth a look.

I was hoping maybe the terranos used the same splines in the rear axle halfshafts, but read up they are either 29 or 31 spline :( No idea on diameter either.

Erm how would a rear half shaft help???? Rick

because it's longer, this is for a 4x4 buggy project I want to build. I plan on using terrano hub assemblies and diff. Front and rear on the buggy.

But want bigger suspension, but don't think it will be possible unless I get some custom shafts machined.

Ah right seeing the wood for the tree's now, simply take a T2 front shaft and cut it in half, then find some thick walled tube that fits snugly over the shaft and weld it to whatever length you want, problem solved, Rick

Did think of that but have my doubts about strength.

I guess on a buggie you have space enough to make it what you want, what power unit are you intending using and approx weight of the buggie, Rick

thinking about the 2.7 td with propane injection, nice and basic but may be on the heavy side.

Weight not sure, maybe 1.3-1.5t?

I'd be more inclined to use the ka24, more revs and tuning options, better suited for a buggy ... ?
