Had the back wheels off this weekend. Finally got round to sprucing up the brake drums.

I used Halfords VHT satin black brush on. You just abrade back to bare metal, de-grease and brush on two or more coats with about 60-80 minutes between coats.

Easy-peasy!!!

Looks nice & tidy:thumbs I've just used hammerite for years & so far never had any problems with it, it's even stood up to me cooking brakes before:augie

I had a long and exhaustive series of posts about the right paint in one of my other threads, pleased with the finish of this stuff. Nice and easy to use to!

I did find it remarkeably difficult to find VHT paint in satin black. Every other colour under the rainbow was plentiful.

What about BBQ paint? you can get spray paint.
I sprayed our chiminea with it, fantastic finish...
Lasted until it was fired up, and the week after it was all rusty again.
It has had that same rusted look now for over 12 years lol...

I tried for BBQ paint, but could only find matt and gloss!

I can't work out if I couldn't find satin black because it's popular and they can't keep it on the shelves or if it's not popular so they don't order much.

Lot's of nice bright colours in VHT, I guess aimed at the boy racers calipers (oh yes, and Alex).

:lol

High temp aerosol paint

I use black exhaust paint in a can for brakecalipers & Chiminea.
It is a bit thin but it does the job.
