On my new one 2001 SWB Tdi the speedo works only occasionally, at times it wangs backwards and forwards off the stop etc and in over 100 miles it has only recorded about 2 miles on the odometer.

I'm guessing thet are a digital guage driven off a sensor in the gearbox - anyone else had problems with this, was it the sensor or the wiring or even the speedo head (dash)?

in another car i had the cable had snaped.. and the two ends played with each other moveing it some times..

maybe?

no idea realy.

I get this HB, Only does it first thing in the morning, Everything resets!

Last weekend i disconnected the battery for about 12 hours (Would have left it longer but needed the motor) Did not do it for a couple of days but then started doing it again.

So your guess is as good as mine.

Mav.

Some of these new fangled speedo's are beginning to fail, I have seen a company on eaby that specailize in repairs of the instrument cluster, apparently they put the same cluster in some ford explorer's

All I know is that my old T2 (also a 2001) had required a new speedo fitting at about 18k, seem to recall this is a bit of a regular on some of the later models.

Has anybody used this company?? just for some feed back!
You got a link DJ38?

I've tried to find the ebay seller no joy, I'll keep an eye out for it.
Had details of common instrument cluster faults, they sold refurb units and also repair units for a fixed price.
