Been to Scarbough today came through a village 30 mph limit.doing 25mph.
Some chap in a car flashes his lights at me ,I think he must have mistaken me for someone else.:augie.
SPEED TRAP.:doh.strange thing about it was the camera looked like one of them old Red Light Cameras. set on 3 bits of angle iron making a tripod.
The whole lot about 1m of the ground.
IT DID NOT LOOK LIKE A SPEED CAMERA as I approached but did from the rear.
A van was hidden in a lane just with the front wing showing .
(no police markings). side door open and a cable running from camera to van.
I would have passed it without realising what it was.:eek::eek:

In Derbyshire last year the police were hiding a camera in a horse box on a grass verge, sly ones.

illy

This is the thing is it not.I thought speed cameras were meant to stop accidents.Cops hiding in horse boxes is not about driver education or preventing accidents but a deliberate attempt to "catch" the motorist and make money.People who hide behind trees in an attempt to trap others are devious in there intent and that form of traffic control should not be allowed.:hmh

Their funds are low, and they are planning a Christmas do. :augie :lol

I guess if they put up signs in an area, "Speed cameras" then you should be taking more care.
Unfortunately you spend more time looking for the damn things and less time looking at the road in front of you....:doh

This could create more accidents.

Best thing is to keep to the speed limits then you needn't worry..:nenau

When I used to drive a lot on the motorways, I used to adjust my speed so that 10% of the traffic was going faster than me, and I never got a ticket.
However with these modern cameras, one slight lapse in concentration, and you could get a ticket.

Doing 65-70mph on the motorway, only takes a few minutes longer on a 50 mile journey than trying to go as fast as possible....:augie
You will also save 20% on fuel as well.

The other day I was out in the picasso with a small trailer doing 60 mph, on a 100 mile each way journey and it returned 62 mpg, normally on a motorway solo at 70+ it does 50 mpg, so that works out at over 20% saving. :thumb2

The moral of the story..
I must drive with the trailer on the back all the time....:lol:lol

Hi Rustic.
i was driving within the 30 mph limit. just wondered why the bloke was flashing me.
Just in case.:thumb2
First thing I did was to hit the brake and look at speedo at same time
Then saw the camera thing.
if the bloke hadnt flashed me I probably would not have realised it was a speed camera.:doh:eek:

lmao , doing just over :augie on the m62 today, saw the traffic car up ahead thought oh shit slowed gently then happy to note the red corsa behind was pulling out to overtake, she slapped all on so hard as they were next to me the poor passenger nearly nutted the windscreen. Needless to say they got pulled after she realised the nice policeman was flashing is lights at her :lol:lol

Thats what the cops should be doing really :thumb2
