the nsf speaker plays up on my T2, if goes over a bump silendes the whole audio system,
then if lucky another bump starts up again, or if kick door panel!

have unplugged speaker and now rest work fine, noted when wasnt working when turned
radio on got an electrical audible thump from it.

would this be a short so bad would stop radio and rest of system. certainly better without.

can a speaker be repaired or is it trash, is it ok to replace just one and when speakers are
refered to a say a 6x4 what does this mean, is it the distances between the mounting
holes or is it the height and width of the speaker diaphram?

have just looked at speaker and holes are about 6 inch and 4 inch apart. so is this what
i need?

cheers

Yup, I'd say the speaker is had it, just get a new set, they are 4 by 6 inch, this means the diameter of the cone, 4X6 inch is the size you need :thumb2

by set is it ok to just replace front pair or do i really need to do alll 4, the sound is pretty
good on 3 at moment wiht l to r balance adjusted slightly, suprising how much those
little tweeters bring next to mirrors.

best to replace them in pairs , just make sure the impedance is the same as original spec

cheers Ryan, noted uk seller but on us page so found on uk page

so whats a 2 way, is that like a tweeter in centre.

noticed how much full sound comes from tweeters when have balance and fade centred
compared to faded just to rear pair. thinking if these are tweeters included I'll put them
in back and bring one of old rears forward....?

ok and if rated at 60W each, dont know what the standard nissan nats head produces
but have a spare jvc thats 4x45 will these be ok, dont speakers need to be rated higher
than the heads output, is that sort of margin ok.

are connections standard, guessing the two way part will be split within the speaker
and not need extra pins.

Hi mate, yes, 2 way means the tweeter is in the middle, you could move the rears to the front and put the new ones in the rear, than youll have a good sounding set up, as youll have tweeters in each door, you'll notice the clarity of the new speakers in the back, also, the rear seat passengers will be able to hear the music a lot better

You'll need adaptors for the wiring

hi,

can someone advise me on these, the links ryan found have timed out.

looking for correct fit, with tweeter in centre, 60w seemed to be agreed before

ideally about £30

fitting to rear side doors so existing can come forward

You'll be better off fitting the new speakers in the front as that's where you'll hear the improved sound the best as the rear speakers aiming is dreadful:doh The ones I took of of mine were 7x5" but i've fitted 6.5" speakers up front & 5.25" speakers in the back mainly for passengers. Going for a classic round speaker will give you far more options than oval ones but round speakers need baffles making up so they can be fitted. Going to redo mine in about a month or so, so if your not in a rush could make you a set up. I'll try & find you some links for oval speakers in case that is what you want.
Home made baffle with a 5.25" speaker fitted in rear door using the factory fixing points & screws

Right 7x5" speakers
Alpine £27.99 http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/alpine-sxe-5725s

FLI £27.99 http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/fli-audio-fi7

Vibe £34.99 http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/vibe-slick-57

JBL £49.99 http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/speakers/jbl-gto6429-4x6-135w-2-way-speakers-2816

Oh yes please  http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/jl-audio-evolution-c5-570x

TBH I personally wouldn't bother with the FLI ones as the Alpine's are the same price & will prob sound a lot sweeter, I like JBL stuff so would prob go for them myself, the Vibe ones aren't to bad but a bit harsh for my liking & the last one on the list oh yes please:thumbs

thinks pal, so will 7x5 fit all, as thought were 6x4, according to the previous hifi kid....

toying with new head, want mp3 usb, quite facy dab and bt, theres a highway that
does all

Sorry to resurrect such an old thread, but the last question seems to have been left hanging and it's one that has now confused me.

Like the OP thought, I was about to order some 6x4's as that is the distance between the screws on my Terry. I've found these which I like:

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/speakers/full-range/4-x6-coax/jbl-gto6429-4x6-135w-2-way-speakers

Are they okay or is it 7x5's I need or will they fit? Sorry if these are dumb questions, but I get to the stage where I'm pretty damned sure about something and then I do just a little bit more research, read some new info and then get all confused again. :nenau

Midnight Base Music

Back in the day when I upgraded my door speakers they sounded great in my old Opel Ascona.

Downside was they were louder outside the vehicle than inside but that seems to be the fashion where I live now. Back then it just seemed obtrusive! lol

as far as aware 6x4 is width n height of speaker cone.

imagine mount centres wont be that different but may not be the same.

Why fit 2 ways when there's a tweeter fitted as standard? Unless you unplug the standard tweeter it's going to sound screamy and harsh.
Get some mdf baffles made up and fit some 6.5" components (front)
5.25" (rear).
Much better sound than the standard 6x4" too
