Spare wheel covers

My Mav's got the standard vinyl spare wheel cover fitted, but I fancy replacing it with something a little more rigid.
The locking ones with the stainless band might be the best bet, but they're also pretty expensive. Anyone used one of those semi-rigid covers - gloss painted ABS disc and then vinyl stretched over the tyre? Are they decent quality, or is the vinyl likely to detach itself from the plastic disc?

Hi I have a semi rigid cover & it's been on for 2 years now, it has been fine & is wearing very well in my view. If the vinyl covering ever gives up from the looks of it a stainless steel cover ring will happily fit the hard disc :smile:

Me too but I think the cover stops the tyre from being cooked by the sun. I know the road tyres get hit by UV but you can't cover them.
