While I had the panels off to do the LDC display etc, I noticed that just behind the fuse box, hung over another wiring loom, there is a spare wired connector, looks like a grey 14 pin female plug with most of it wired up coming from a bigger wiring loom. I couldn't see where it might have come from or what it is for. Is just a spare?

Any ideas?

It's the Diagnostic plug.

Look in downloadsection.

Can use it to read fault codes, either with paper clip, or proper expensice kit

its the ejector seat control plug :naughty

V Funny Briggie :lol

Would not be surprised, my uncle didn't know it had an electric sunroof and the 6 x CD stack looks as if it has never been used. I read the manual (yes I do that sometimes) and it said the the CD changer is located under the passengers seat, I looked and nothing :( Then thought Ah maybe manual refers to LHD models, so looked under drivers seat and bingo!

Can be accessed below the fusebox, the later 16 pin ones we have yet to suss out but the 14 pin ones on the earlier ones can be hooked up using a Consult II cable which will set you back about £15, all you need then is a laptop and a free piece of software called ECUTalk and you're away, you can read faulty codes stored on your ECU and even view real time gauges of how your engine and other bits are behaving :thumb2

Great info there :bow

I was looking into getting a fault code reader.

Just had a look at the lead, seems that it needs a laptop with a RS232 port, so will only work on older laptops?

As an eBay Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
It looks as though they have combined the USB/RS232 interface within the adapter, so it ought to work with ECU-talk.
So, yes, worth a punt I reckon.

I've not got round to looking at that 16 Pin plug yet Ray but I've still got your PM printed next to the plug and the soldering Iron on my desk :doh

All my possessions for some time!!!!!!!!!!!!
