I'm more in the know on the td's so over to the tdi owners :augie :lol

try cleaning your maf first , there are plenty of threads on it or im sure someone will tell you how shortly

The ECU IS MEALY FAULT CODES I don't know of any yet on here that have gone wrong...

As briggie said, clean ya MAF 1st & check ya air filter or change it for the price of them.

spray your MAF with carb cleaner or similar.....don't touch the element wire whatever you do.

If its Hitachi (quite possible on that year) a new MAF is around £300 from Nissan but the Hitachi is extremely reliable (as it fecking should be at that price!)

The Bosch is about forty squid and more prone to failure. But cleaning is the first step. And, as Adz suggests, nice new clean air filter, but if its intermittent I'd be favouring a knackered MAF (as opposed to just a cleaning job)....but could be something electrical.....any funny noises or smoke signs?

another thing to bear in mind, like any other electrical componant, a MAF can still become old and less sensitive, so even cleaning may not help. Theres a place, on the web, that sells them for our trucks for about £180, only problem is i cant find the web site anymore doh!

another option is to get one from a much lower mileage vehicle, from a scrappys...

That sounds very pricey unless its a cheap Hitachi.....??

Venture you need to make sure you get the right one because they are NOT interchangeable.

Hitachi, and £180 is cheap for these....

but then its finding one at that price now, ive had a look, and i cant find them anymore!

Before you start farting about with cleaning the MAF first step is to simply unplug it and go for a spin. If the car is driving just the same with no go, and wont rev freely then take it out and clean it carefully! :thumb2

Also when was it last serviced???? Id go for a new air filter / fuel / oils etc... wont break the bank and easy to do yourself :thumb2

Also a thought does it have a genuine Nissan Air Filter in the box?????? Ive had issues with chepo couple of quid ones with the same symptons you've got!!! :doh

Thanks guys for all you assistance i will try the unplug and try it method tomorrow doing some research there is a fella on ebay selling new mafs for £39.99 so i suppose its a matter of giving a new one ago and a process of elimanation

Even if you find it's not that, keep it in the vehicle because one day it will be..
I don't have one on my Mav, it's a 2.7TD:lol

BUT check the existing one first to see if its got Bosch or Hitachi written on it. The cheap one will only be a Bosch replacement and no good if you have a Hitachi.
