Was going to check break pads but wheel solid. It's up in the air I've belted it with a block of oak and lump hammer, put plusgas on it but nothing. And I got 3 more to do.
Is it a case of getting underneath with a sledge hammer or is there an easy way.
Cheers Paul

When you say wheel solid ,you mean the wheel wont turn when it's off the floor
ie break has seased ?

Put the wheel nuts back on, but just run them up with your fingers so there not at all tight .Then get in the car and just drive it up and down the drive a few times ,breaking and reversing.(don't go on the road!) this should free it.

Block of wood and an fbh ( or better just keep tapping the wood until the seal is broken).

Some good ideas there.
To give yourself some encouragement, try the other three, then if you can say get two wheels loose, you are halfway there.:thumb2

That achievement will give you a boost.:thumb2
Have another go...
Then it might only be one to sort...

Repeated belting of a baby sledgehammer against a block of wood pressed against one edge of the rim always worked for me (sometimes took a while though!). It's corrosion of the alloys against the steel hub that does it, make sure to coat the inside face of the alloy (the bit that lies against the hub) with copper grease before you refit.

Needed Thor's hammer.
Ended up using sledge hammer on inside of tyre.

Would a gasket of baking paper work so it's easier next time?

Paper would most likely trap moisture, or disintegrate due to the pressure.
As said before, light coat of copper grease...

Posted before I saw your message about copper slip Rob.
Cheers every body.
The driving with lose nuts didn't work.
The tapping with hammer on block of wood didn't work.
The belting with big hammer on wood didn't work.
It took 8lb sledge hammer swung hard repeatedly straight on to the inside wall of the tyre, couldn't believe it.

I would probably use a silicone grease as copper slips reacts with the aluminium if memory serves correctly.:nenau
