Apologies if you've said so in the thread but are those vacuum tubes? I've got some south facing roof space about that size thats just crying out for something similar LOL

Yes they are, made by Thermomax in Ireland, Rick

yes paypal is fine but let me find it first, I will quot "it is in the barn" any that know me will testify that that is an enormous undertaking on its own, Rick

well I found the controller, but unfortunately I have already stolen one of the boards to repair another (a while ago, I had forgotten) but more important I have no sensors I found my box of odd ones and there are no ringdales amongst them, if you look in google under solar controllers you should be able to find a cheap one or even ebay, what you are looking for is a solar differential controller basic, no display, so what with this and not being able to test the air bag theory it has not been too good a day, Rick

so today we have had a lot less sun, but still got tank full at 49 degrees, so thinking the plate heat exchanger is not up to the job, so going to fit a 6ft length of convoluted stainless steel pipe in the bottom of the cylinder tomorrow, just means that in the winter and on poor solar days I will end up with a tankful of warm water instead hotter water at the top, Rick

Hi Rick, thanks for the head up, I will do a search now I know what to call it.

As Timbo says you have to use a neutralizer so it does not go bang in a power cut, unless you do the whole thing gravity but that would be a completely separate system, I can send you a diagram if you like, just PM your address, Rick
