What year is yours then, I do have a 94 petrol, but thought they were the same, Rick
Mine's a '94 as well, and I must admit I thought they were the same, but a contributor on the FB page informed me they changed to the larger size around 2000.

I must admit I use both fb and the forum, it's just the way things are.

I ditched FB years ago, got sick to death of unknown people wanting to "friend" me, the constant drivel of needy people needing to be "liked, and the general crap of people who are more shallow than my cats water bowl.

Best thing I ever did.

:)

Odd as my scrappers only go up to 98 so they should have fitted, Rick

Well this was a constructive thread :p

I actually posted on Facebook recently who was fed up with the forum... I was surprised with the response including mention of several members who left got banned or were shunned out.

People are too judgemental here, on the fb page everyone just gets on with their own thing.. If they don't like what they see they don't like or comment. I like it here but wish it were more like that.

I feel anything I say or do on here gets heavily criticised by all the "experts" so I don't bother anymore... Now the tumbleweed is blowing...

I'm not the first to complain nor will I be the last, hopefully it will change for the best... Time will tell.

Good night.

I don't do face ache. Think it's a load of borricks so cannot comment on that.
This forum however had been helpful to me in solving problems with my truck.
I must admit to sucking my teeth in at some of the comments aimed at certain persons but believe it is all in jest and to be lighthearted.
Although if any offence is caused they need to be made aware and I'm sure apologies would be made asap cos I'd like to think that's how our fellow forum users are.
That's how they come across to me anyway.
Ian.

Hey guys I wasnt ruffling feathers when I posted this thread just asking what it was about.

Enjoy both and live n let live.

The search facility on this forum frequently incurs criticism, however if you persevere you can generally find what you are looking for...

I'll second that, I don't have any great issues on this forum.:thumb2

I'm guilty as charged.
I've been a member here for 3 years and don't come on as much as my phone is constantly pinging with the amount of face ache groups I've been added to.

However I stand firm in be living this is the best place to be.and I have made a lot of friends here.learned a lot and would not give up my membership.
Rayt then best go fix my truck again

Like I said, never been on FA and have no reason to start. I find the advice on here is great and over the years, many have appeared, asked a few questions, then disappeared. I suppose some don't like paying the £10 and I suppose on FA, it's free ?? so that may be a draw to it.
Alex, you have come under some criticism in the past, some needed for safety and some not so, we need guys like you to keep asking and posting. I have noticed how much you have withdrawn from the forum...mores the pity as you always seemed to bounce back with a bomb proof shell around you. I didn't think many had been banned from here though :nenau:nenau

And yes, the forum is too quite at the moment

Well if honest, that's how I feel, it started as a once or twice in a while to becoming every other response was criticism of some kind.

I do like it on here, used to do 16 posts a day :lol I bet thats dropped now. Don't wanna see the forum become deserted but fed up of criticism, don't get any on Facebook, quite the opposite infact, you can see the appeal right?

Alex, I'm not sure what criticism you are refering to, but as regards your air-horn issues, people were just concerned that you could easily have done a lot of damage to your vehicle with un-safe wiring.

The problem with text on a screen is that it is not always easy to "see" the attitude of the writer and is easily mis-interpreted. Which is how valuable and constructive, or potentially life-saving, comments can sometimes be seen as bitchy criticism.

:)

Alex, might I be the first to make yet another full public apology as to one of my recent posts. It was out of order and beyond my normal banter. As you know, I do tend to look at safety issues first.
This is the first time you have responded, I guess we have pushed the boundaries that bit too far. It was not a joke when I suggested that you should take on the position of Forum member of the year. You have learnt so much and contributed so much since your early naive days, in not knowing which end of a spanner is which, some of us have forgotten on how quickly you have learnt.
An analogy, would be an ugly duckling turning into a beautiful swan...
NOTE this is an analogy... this is NOT how I really see Alex.... hmmm lol:lol
Can I make that perfectly clear...:doh :lol

I'm sure we can all make that extra bit of effort, in reading what we post before we post it, maybe we could do with a bit longer to edit the post after we send it too. Forum take note...

Alex, you have made a difference to this forum, I will admit, a better difference too. So... keep in touch with some of your ideas, you do inspire a lot of people on this forum... positively.:thumb2
To other members, myself included, maybe we should reply to posts with... might this be a better alternative, have you thought about this... rather than go for the throat.
We have never lost a member this way, you should NOT be the first.

I like learning from all on here so please Continue to let me know what I've done wrong, just the wording that needs to be changed  and If anyone really hates what I've done please donr comment, no comment is better than negative.

But yeah I don't plan to leave, just keeping my head down.

On a plus note I've put some heavy duty screws in the maf sensor in replace of those pesky torx :naughty

Perhaps I might even start a thread later

Quite appropriate wording there... "starting a thread" when you're talking about screws lol..
:lol

Torx screws are useful if you want to get a fixing a bit tighter than standard screws, or if you want to stop the average diy mechanic from having a go, but these bits for torx, and indeed tamperproof screws have become the norm these days, even the £1 shop sell some, you can buy a set of tamperproof torx, with the centre pin, and also the Allen key version too.

No doubt manufacturers will introduce yet another generation of tamperproof screws...:doh
:thumb2
I think the way to go, is tamper evident screws or seals over screw heads, so manufacturers can protect their warranty.

My first port of call for all things Terrano has always been and will always be this fine club. Where else can one find such a wealth of knowledge and information for only a measly £10 a year (not to mention Briggie's jokes and Alex's trials and tribulations - if as he says he is cutting down on his posts I will certainly miss him).

There are occasions however when a back up becomes necessary e.g. I have been looking for a pair of original speakers for my '94 T2 for some time. Rick appeared to come up trumps but unbeknown to both him and me 5"x7" speakers will not fit a 1994 Terrano (they need to be 6"x4").
I then came across the FB Terrano/Maverick page and bingo - within 10 minutes I get an offer of the speakers I'm looking for at a great price.

The way I see it there is room for both our club and the FB site to run side by side. No club is ever going to be all things to all men, so we can each utilise whichever aspects of the two organisations fulfils our needs - after all, no-one is forced to choose between the two! Bruce
