Saw this sat on a forecourt this morning, pulled in to ask about it, "sorry mate belongs to mechanic".
It's done 8k, that's eight thousand miles!!!!
Bench seats that go in boot are still in original plastic, so is the grease gun that comes with vehicle, 4.2 manual, this picture does not do it justice, it looks like new inside and out!

He deffo seemed nervous, never seen a mechanic wear Kevlar :lol

He told me he has the tyres he bought it with in the garage, presumably the o/e ones, replaced them 'cos they had started to crack a little!

Lucky bastard I want it! Saying that I'd only scratch it all up :lol

That is lovely, wonder what that would be worth... Limited market if it was for sale ( i assume its diesel 4.2 ).. Alot of people are scared of the 4.2 and think they will cost a fortune to run so would be put off not realising how economical they are... That would be a great buy..

Yup 4.2 diesel, manual too, said he bought it with 3k on clock!! I wouldn't have believed him but it was like new inside!
I know nothing of the 4.2 straight six, are they ok on fuel then?

all the ones ive owned were brilliant on fuel, only started using fuel once turboed and big tyres... if I could have found one like that I would keep it forever, I cant say enough good things about the y60, in my opinion the greatest truck EVER produced, a real square purposeful easy to repair truck, how they should be.. just a shame there isn't more around now.. I would swap my y61 for a good y60 4.2, it would have to be bloody good though cos I love my y61 too.

What's power like being non turbo, sluggish or they not bad?

Lucky b*****d I want it! Saying that I'd only scratch it all up :lol

Alex ! careful old chap:D

I have missed a couple of expletives over the last few week, loosing my touch lol
I know it doesn't matter in the great scheme of things in life, more especially, I have other things to worry about. Believe me I have used stronger language in our house over the last few months, more out of frustration. :augie

not sluggish, and really good for a big lump found the swb models nippier, I found the long wheel base with high roof not as economical and when I put a roof rack on it killed it especially if it was windy so took it off. you can do a turbo conversion quite cheaply ive used the manifolds available on ebay, I just had them re skimmed before fitting. ive bought cheap t3/t4 turbos and rebuilt them using garret internals.. fit an intercooler, made a dump pipe and wind up the fuel a little makes the 4.2 truly great..

Our old towing vehicles where a pair of lwb 4.2 Y60's
Never a lack of power with a 36' trailer fully loaded with a compact tractor and flail mower.
Noticed the difference when we upgraded to the 3.0ltr Y61.

I didn't realise you could get high and low ones when I took the pic, then I saw a pic of bat21's black one, I bet it was more like sailing with roof rack on :lol
Turbo sounds an interesting project to do!!

Elty, when you say you noticed a difference, I take it you mean for the worse!?
