i remember posting on this years ago, there are two different part numbers, an early one and a late one (on a TD) i can't remember now though, sorry :nenau
do not know about part numbers, but the snap rings I would call the drive shaft circlip, and they come in different sicknesses, and the brake rings are the fixed one on the hub and the rotating one on the auto locking part, but the other main culprit is the inner splined part that has wings that break off, I have some hubs stripped out at the mo, if you would like pics I can do them and post tomorrow eve, Rick
This pic show's the main components that give trouble, you can see the wings missing on the lower centre part as compared to a good one on the left (still in its housing) top centre is the snap ring this holds the drive shaft in the hub and the fixed brake ring (upper right) there are two more washers not shown, the rotating brake ring lower right is another part that fails, they get distorted like this one and so when sat inside the fixed ring it rocks and does not seat properly, I have not been successful in re forming these as yet, also the wings on these can break off, if you look in the down loads there is a Max and Min dimension for the overall thickness of the two brake rings when put together, cannot even measure these two as too deformed, hope this helps, Rick
It's the two rings on the right of Rick's photo that come as a pair from dealers. The lower one is the one that causes the problems, the lugs crack and break off. The manual shows the exploded view so any dealer worth his salt should be able to sort it out from there. I didn't know there was a difference in age of the rings but that doesn't mean that there isn't a difference. Expect to pay around £40 to £50 for a set to repair one side.
