Anyone experience a smell like hot rubber whilst driving with engine under load or over 75 mph? Particularly noticeable with windowssunroof open. Everything checked including clutch, brakes, drive train, underbody, wiring, radiator and hoses etc. Smell disappears quickly when vehicle stops. Thanks for any advice..

yup, mine does that, no idea what it is. My clutch is due, but i cant see it being that.....:doh

Thanks, having read another thread about heat around the gearbox/centre dash console, might be the soundproofing material in this area??

There is thick rubber sound proofing that sits on top of the gear box. The heat from the engine blows back towards the gearbox. There's a thread somewere that I explained it all on. There were pics too I think

hey, nice one Ryan, i have wondered about this for ages!!!

and mine, i just pretend its the car in front i can smell :augie:lol:lol:lol

i only ever, EVER, noticed it when driving up one particular road at over 60. The road is long and steep, and as I get to the top, I smell the rubber. The road is near the motorway, so I had started to convince myself it was just tyre rubber smell from the motorway!!

I think now I am going to do what Ryan suggests, and check the centre console rubber stuff....

Thanks all! Put my mind at rest, and will buy some more air freshners!! Just got rid of the smell of Waxoyl from have the bottom undersealed!! Glad I don't do that for a living...
