Ok, so my clutch bite point was quite high and slipped after a bit of driving.

I bit the bullet and fitted a new clutch kit, the old clutch when checked was still good and surprise surprise it still has a high bite point and slips after a 20min journey.

Ive removed the mad damper pipe to rule that out and fully drained and re-bled the clutch, it still has a high bite point but havent driven enough to check slip.

Everything seems to be working as it should..

Anyone else came across this or got any ideas? :nenau

Worn release lever:nenau:nenau

How much does the slave cylinder move when you press the clutch?
There have been cases where the flexi pipe on the slave balloons out, not allowing the slave to go full travel.

Don't think it'll the case with yours but might be worth checking just in case my mates injector spill pipes were leaking & derv was junning down the back of the engine into the bell housing causing the clutch to slip

Been there before, when clutch slips check the slave cylinder push rod had fully retracted, my experience with a friends Hyundai was non return valve in master cylinder was playing up holding pressure on when pedal was up

there is no non return valve in the master cyl, most likely is the flexi hose collapsed inside making a one way valve, other is slave cyl semi seized, Rick

after 2 years my clutch pedal has become hard again gonna check the flexi pipe but i replaced all clutch components last time just before rick n swifty fitted a new clutch for me which fixed it.

if i dont have any luck rick are you n swifty still changeing clutches?

Swifty is not on the scene any more, I could do it on my own if I invest in some more mechanical help, but this side of Xmas just too busy, Rick

When you say a clutch kit does that include Disc, Pressure Plate & release bearing and is it a genuine part ?
Was the flywheel showing much wear on the face ?
Did the centre disc move freely on the splines ?

Whenever I have used non-genuine parts I have always had clutch problems in the days when I drove manual vehicles.

no probs rick im happy to help i would do it my self but no where todo it inside my mate engine crane isnt tall enough for a terrano and i dont fancy doing it outside. if i dont find anything else causing the problem i could come down one day in the new year when your free

Thanks for the plenty suggestions guys.

Clutch lever isnt worn.

Plenty movement in slave cylinder & doesnt appear seized.

Flexy isnt balooning.

No diesel leaking onto clutch.

Full 3piece kit. No flywheel wear.

Only thing i thought was maybe master cylinder piston isnt fully returning sometimes and holds some pressure onto the clutch. Still no explanation for high clutch pedal!!

Should not be a problem in the new year, and got plenty of logs for the wood burner in the workshop, Rick

dive under the motor and push the slave back it should go easy if it will not move do the same with the bleed nipple on the master open, if it now moves then problem master cyl end (check the adjustable rod not too tight) if it still does not move then change the hose, it is bad inside, Rick

cheers rick im sure i will be intouch to replace the clutch again nothing else cured it last time

cannot believe you have done a clutch is that short space of time unless you have a lazy left foot? Rick

Well done 150miles today and seems to be fine!

Not really done anything other than tiny adjustment at pedal box.

Pedal still higher than id like but acceptable!

Maybe it needed bedding in, after all the partly worn flywheel wasn't perfectly flat, as a new one would be. I assume you hadn't had the flywheel skimmed.

Flywheel was perfect and not worn at all, ive never seen a 'worn' flywheel face.

Cheers

im a bit surprised to and no not got a lazy left foot. its strange tho sometimes the pedal feels light and then sometimes its heavy its no way as bad as it was when you changed it but still heavy at times very odd

sounds like you have a problem outside of the clutch itself, problem with the hydraulics me thinks, did we do your hose when changing the clutch? Rick
