Hi guys

I've got a 2.7 turbo diesel ford mavrick and having problems with the brakes, im after some slide pins for the brake caliper as i can't get any round shrewsbury area, only as part of a caliper repair kit. Main agents are asking for £100 a side but can't see it warrents getting second hand calipers to end up in same situation (if pins are bent). Anyone know if i can just get the slider pins without buying a repair kit??

Any help would be great

There are plenty of vehicles being scrapped at the moment, so offers will soon come streaming in.
Are yours actually bent ? Some members clean then up and re grease and re-fit.

You have tried Ford dealers, what about Nissan dealers ?

Dont throw the old ones out either. Just give them a good wire brushing and a clean then stick 'em in your cordless with some valve paste and spin them in and out.
Only takes a few mins and they're all luverly again:D

Unless they're bent

Part of my mot failure was two seized pins, one sheared in the caliper so I nicked a caliper of the scrapper, but it had one seized also but managed to free it and the second caliper from the scrapper sheared also, so when I have some time I will turn up some new ones from hex bar, if I find I need them, but I have not seen them bent, how does this happen? Rick

just what I was thinking

slider pins

they seem to bend when pads are worn, so when braking it the carrier travels out so far, and heat of the brakes must distort them. only explanation i can think of, but if the slider moves on bent pins it tends to lock the carrier with pads onto disk and won't release.

hope thats of some help
