Aug 30 - Sept 1 MotoGP weekend.
First of all I need some digs. Stopping for 2 nights Fri & Sat.Max Budget= £100/night double room
:nenau

I don't have any suggestions, however the local Premier Inn is fully booked, and the nearest offer from the PI website is Bicester at £250! I think you are going to struggle locally.
Looks like it's a popular event.

Yeah I've checked all the usual places like that. Travel lodges holiday inn Late rooms etc.

go camping or caravaning ,
its a good weekend and if you stop on site there`s lots of entertainment,
last time we went we had a great weekend,
be warned it can be a noisy night unless you camp in the family part

Tents are out. I'd do it in a caravan though. The site looks great with everything going on. I had a look at the glamping tents to hire on site. I can't see what is glam about any of it except the price. £250 +£45 for 3 days site fee.
I must have sent 50 emails to b&b's in the area. All but 1 were full and she can't confirm till Thursday but she said 95% certain it will be ok. Really nice farm too.
One nice b&b lady told me to look on www.trackrooms.co.uk plenty of b&b's on their but also if your house is local to the track and have a spare room then you can cash in for Silverstone events. One place I enquired about wanted £280 for 2 nights b&b. 20mins walk to the circuit.

Well we are booked in at this lovely B&B http://www.littleoaksfarm.co.uk/ which is around 9miles South of the circuit. £70 a night for both of us. :clap Working farm too MOOOOO

Any more tips on going to a race track for the weekend? We have got grandstand seats @Becketts corner for the Sunday. For Fri&Sat I'm thinking of taking some fold up seats although we can grab a seat in the grandstands on a first come first serve basis I would like to see a bit more of the track.

Don't know what to do about food? Hoping I won't need much if Mrs farmers wife does a good brekkie :clap

Take food with you unless you are a multi millionaire.
Take ear plugs, it can get a bit too noisy. Even if you don't use them they only cost pennies.
Silverstone is the flattest track i have ever been to, you can't see much unless in the grandstands. Especially if it is busy.
Get there early, there will be queues.

Oh right didn't know it had a poor view for spectators... Glad i'll be in a stand on Sunday then. Gates open at 7am each morning. What time should I be looking to get their?

Silverstone

Ah that takes me back I went to the Race of Champions at Silverstone back in 1968/9 ish my mate was at Aston Uni and a fellow girl student put us up at theirs if she could have a lift there and back free of petrol costs.

It was a no brainer her folks had what seemed like a Mansion House it had 6 or so bedrooms and was 15 minutes from the track. At that time all the F1 cars had huge aerofoils and they were still racing the two engine options as I recall. A normally aspirated 3 Litre or Turbo charged 1600 cc units in F1. The Turbos were so loud with massive flames out the back on the slightest engine overun.

All the cars were grounding on the track coming out of the bends and throwing huge showers of sparks. It was a brilliant weekend and in those days you could walk freely round the Pits etc. We even stood near to Grahame Hill in the bar afterwards and he was telling jokes and stories a real nice guy.

Never made it to Silverstone again became an Alton Park & Brands Hatch visitor until life got in the way of enjoyment!

Went to Oulton Park once in the 90's for the touring cars. I was at the bottom of the hill looking up when this happened: :augie Check out the safety car
