I have purchased a set of stainless steel side steps for my 97 Regulus LwB ( an older import from Aus) . The brackets that came with the appear to be to small and are very rusted. Doesa anyone know where I can obtain a complete fixing kit or replacement brackets?
Is it possible to convert the headlights to HDI units on my vehicle or will it require a lot of cable replacement to prevent overloading the electrics?:

There are plenty on here who have taken such things off so you should get some offers later.

With reference to after market Hid, they are being picked up by the MOT stations now, first of all, Hid lights must have a wash cycle for cleaning them and the light profile shape is often not compatible with the optics of the original headlights, that were designed for standard Halogen.
Dazzle is the reason, so be aware.

However, most members on here have chosen the Osram "night breakers" as these upgrade the current lights at a fraction of the cost, and are fully legal, and I am not aware of any problems, provided the light pattern is correct.:thumb2

Best regards,
Rustic

Side steps/Hid lights

Thanks for the advice on both items. I will forget the idea of HID and go for the recommendation. Re the side steps as soon as I mention it's an import a sharp intake of breath sorry we don't cater for imports try the dealer.

Goodness me.............someone wants to join the Manly Side Step Faction......I thought that had gone....'underground'

Side steps.

I need side steps as my wife is disabled and needs assistance to get up into the vehicle. So sarcastic comments are not necessary unless you want to make them face to face

Don 't take offence Ken, it's an on going joke on here, That side steps are gay !,along with other things like carpet and heated seats
But there are a few of us that stick up for side step equality and john is one!:thumbs I think

side steps

Ok but everyone needs to remember that not all of us only need them for decoration. I'll forget it this time

I certainly do stand for equality on the side step issue......I need mine!

Ken, please do not take offence, there are many member of this site, with family members that aren't as sprightly as they used to be, or not as able as others.

As a group, I have never met such kind, open, friendly and generally non discriminatory people.

In fact, they support eagerly, folks with disabilities, to achieve their maximum potential (makeitfits lad as a prize example).

Take the banter as it comes, as it does often, and please do not use threatening or confrontational language, on a very gentle and friendly forum.

I now have a "Man Step" on the back as well, to go along with the ones on the sides... They all help when loading stuff onto the roof... How gay is that??

As already said, don't take it personally Ken, it has been an ongoing joke on here, along with Aircon, and the Escape hatch in the roof, and it is that sort of banter than makes this a successful and friendly forum.

Is your Terrano the older model, rather than the T2 shape. I have a both types, and both have "Man Steps", so if it would help, I could get some pictures of the mountings. Getting spares for it though is very difficult, and so far I have found the only way is to set up search on Ebay, and spend an age waiting for one to be broken up.

Perhaps it would be best if you posted a pic of the motor and then someone may have something or it may be possible to Macgyver some T2 steps to fit

Heated seats and man steps :thumb2
Although yours is an import, it will be the same truck as a UK one, apart from a few differences, I can't see why steps would differ from UK and import.

Firebobby, i think kens is the terrano 1 which is different.

How about photos from lazy ferret and may be measurements. Im guessing get them fabricated as I reckon they'll be hens teeth.

Hey dude, don't take offense to any of this, as mentioned it's a long term joke on the forum, as well as air con, heated seats, wind deflectors, pretty much any luxury of the terrano :lol

The only way you get man points is to remove all seats and carpets :augie

A serious note on your sidesteps there were a few on the Facebook side of things that were fabricating a set of rock sliders which I believe use the same mountings as the side steps.

Must the steps be completely flat or can they be tubular for example? :thumb2

If you know of a small metal shop they might be able to fabricate you something.
The original ones bolt into existing captive nuts in the chassis but some after market ones clamp around the chassis.
Could always make some templates out or stiff card if you are able.

side steps

Many thanks f0r all replies. I understand the comments about the subject. The steps that I have are tubular S/Steel with chequer plate. I cannot get onto 'E' bay at the moment my laptop is playing silly bug--s again

To all our members on the forum, a lot of us have been on the forum a very long time and we are all aware of the banter between members and about certain accessories including scaffolding bumpers... sorry Alex.:lol

It might be a good idea when making these comments to consider how long these posters have been active on this site, just looking at their profile we can see when they joined and how many posts they have made, and we should be a little more cautious on what we say.
Over the years we have got a little bit over familiar with each other, as friends would be down the pub.:thumb2
This what makes this forum as great as it is, I must admit this is the first post in many years of my membership that we have failed to fully please a member, and I'm sure Ken will soon join in with the banter, provided that he doesn't get fed up with me posting, that I have had my Maverick since new for around 20 years.:doh:doh ( here he goes again....:doh)

with greatest respect to all our members,
Rustic
