Hi.

I would like to purchase a pair of loverly chrome, stainless side steps, But have you seen the price, some are £500.00 plus.

The problem i have is, could my petrol tank mounting fowl the step fixings brackets as my tank is mounted at the side of the chassis.

Can anyone tell me at what point do they fix to the chassis, I have had steps fitted before but they were on a LWB and i never took any notice of where the fixing points were.

Mav.

Mine went into some holes that are ready drilled and tapped in the outside of the chassis rails, theres 3 sets IIRC.

I'll take a photo and highlight them later if no one else does anything in the mean time.

Thanks Hummingbird,

Even if you have a side photo and can mark it some how just to show where the fixings are from a side view.

I think i will be ok as the tank bracket is a central fixing about half way along the side.

Hi Mav i've found that not all of them bolt into the chassis as mine are held in place with squared off U bolts that go around the chassis it's self

Mine were a mixture of both, square u bolts at the front, bolts through the chassis holes just around where the rear swingarm connects to the chassis.

Just went out to try take a photo but tbh it doesn't show much so I'll describe where.

Rear one like Jonathan says, up beind the body work where the chassi leg starts to rise.

Middle mount - pretty much in the middle.

front mount - sort of in the back of the front wheel arch.

Thanks for your help all of you,

Looks like i will have to ring up and find out how the steps that i like fit as it does seem to depend on which ones i purchase as to how they fix on.

Thanks again.

Hi,
Rang today to find out about fixing points on the steps that i like and just as always, Don’t fit mine as they have a fixing U type clamp halfway the chassis and one each end.
U bolt fitting in the middle will foul the petrol tank. (Replacement of LPG tank between prop and chassis).

Typical!.

Wonder if i can alter this or not even use it surly one each end will be enough on a short wheel base?.

Mav.

Mav our s/steps are from a lwb they bolt on but, the back arm is close to the rear wheel so may still be close to your lpg tank.

Paul

The only way around it I can think of Mav is to see where the U bolts can be fitted onto the chassis & have a steel plate going from the U bolts along the chassis to the centre fixing point on the side steps
